Officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) are investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident that occurred in the Major Bay area, East End, shortly after 6 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

Initial investigations indicate that the vehicle was traveling along the Blackburn Highway when the driver swerved to avoid a pedestrian crossing the road, lost control, and collided with a concrete wall topped with a steel fence.

Three males were in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Sadly, one of the occupants, identified as Donovan Burton, a Jamaican national residing in Greenland, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two occupants were transported to Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment. They are currently in stable condition.

The RVIPF extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Burton during this difficult time.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
